Safari in National Parks: Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara National Park
This Tanzanian safari is ideal for travelers eager to witness Africa’s most iconic wildlife in a limited amount of time. The two parks on the itinerary are conveniently located close to each other, minimizing travel time and maximizing your safari experience. Lake Manyara is a haven for birdlife, home to species such as hornbills, pelicans, storks, and large flocks of pink flamingos. It’s also one of the rare places where you might spot tree-climbing lions and elusive leopards. Meanwhile, Tarangire National Park is renowned for its dense elephant population and offers excellent opportunities to observe predators near the river as they track potential prey.

The group arrives at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO). Participants are met by a representative of PK Adventure and transferred to a hotel in Arusha.
Note: The hotel cost only includes breakfast. Check-in starts at 2:00 PM.
Your day will begin with breakfast around 7:30 AM, after which your safari guide will meet you at the hotel. Once introductions are made, you’ll set off for Tarangire National Park, where your first game drive is expected to start by 10:00 AM.
Tarangire offers an excellent opportunity to observe a wide range of Tanzanian wildlife, including lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and more. The park is especially renowned for its large elephant population, often seen gathering near the Tarangire River, their main water source.
Keep in mind that this is a completely natural environment, so sightings of particular animals can’t be guaranteed. That said, your guide will do everything possible to help you spot the animals you’re most eager to see. Guides from Altezza use radio communication to stay in touch and share updates about rare sightings to improve your chances.
After a break for lunch at one of the park’s scenic picnic spots, the safari will continue into the afternoon. As the evening approaches, you’ll travel to a nearby hotel near Lake Manyara National Park. There, you’ll be welcomed and shown to your room, where you can enjoy dinner, unwind, and even take a refreshing swim in the pool.
Start your day early with breakfast before setting off toward Lake Manyara National Park. This lush area is nourished by numerous underground water sources, creating a vibrant landscape that supports rich vegetation and attracts a wide range of bird species—including flocks of pink flamingos—as well as various forest-dwelling animals.
Around midday, you’ll take a break at the Maji Moto hot springs, where your guide will provide a packed lunch for you to enjoy. After relaxing at the springs, your safari adventure will continue through the park. By late afternoon or early evening, you’ll begin your journey back to your hotel in Arusha.
Rest in the hotel and transfer to the airport.
Note: Hotel check-out is at 10:00 AM. In case you need a late check-out before your evening flight, you have the option to extend your hotel stay for an extra fee. Let your manager know in advance if you need a late check-out.
Please Note:
- By default our tours include shared accommodation in twin/double rooms, unless requested and agreed otherwise. Single supplement is available upon request. Please refer to the program to see your accommodation arrangements
- Moshi and Arusha-based accommodations usually include breakfast only, unless requested and agreed otherwise. Please refer to the program to see your meal plans on each night
- Most safari lodges usually do not include tea, coffee, soft and alcoholic drinks not to have you overpay for beverages you don’t need. You will be able to order and pay for drinks at the hotels’ restaurants
- Tented lodges are the most common type of accommodation in savannah. Many of them work on solar energy. This sometimes means bucket showers, limited wi-fi and no hair dryers, all in an effort to reduce environmental impact. We encourage you to do some basic research on the accommodations in your program to ensure the safari matches your travel style
